Practice Session Rules
Rules to be followed by students while participating in the Sunday practice session:-
The regular practice session is conducted every Sunday at a time convenient for majority of students. If you miss any of the sessions no compensation can be provided by the institute; however, students can play online at their convenient time to compensate.
Students are strictly forbidden to resign from any game for any reason. This is to ensure proper practice (resignation will not give an opponent a chance to practice checkmate, what they have learned in the class).
Students are strictly not allowed to draw the game by mutual agreement.
However, draw by stalemate, not enough mating material and 3-fold repetitions are allowed.
This is again to ensure fair practice and to get out of the habit of drawing the game instead of losing.
Institute conducts the separate practice sessions for Eastern and Western Countries due to different time zones. Even for Eastern Countries practice sessions can be conducted in two categories, namely Amateur and Advanced.
Following discipline should be followed by all the students while joining the practice session:
• Students should join the group and category assigned by the respective coach.
• Students from Eastern Countries are not allowed to join the practice session for western countries unless permitted by the coach.
• Students who will be participating in the advanced category are strictly not allowed to join any other group/category.
• However students playing in the amateur category may participate in the advanced category with the coach’s permission.
• A student can participate only in one category at a time.
• Students from Western countries are not allowed to participate in the advanced category for Eastern players, however, they can join in the amateur category with the coach’s permission.
Taking any kind of help from friends, parents, computer system, engine, any apps is strictly prohibited, even for a single move.
If a player’s account is fully or partially banned by lichess then by default (according to lichess policy) that player is not allowed to participate in the team’s tournaments.
If a player is found guilty of breaking any of the first four rules;
• For the first two times he will be warned by the coach.
• The third time he will be removed from the team for two months.
• After re-joining the team if a player is found guilty again even once he will be permanently removed from the institute’s team on lichess and will not be eligible to participate in any of the institute’s tournaments/events/activities.
If a player is found guilty for breaking the fifth rule;
• If a player’s account is banned, the coach will inspect his account to know why the account must have been banned by lichess.
• The banned account cannot be restored so the player will have to create a new account.
• But only on parent’s genuine request a student will be admitted again to the team.
• If the same player’s account is banned by lichess for any reason he will not be allowed to join the team again even with the new account. No request will be entertained at all.
