Weekly Practice Sessions
Monitored practice is an essential part of a player’s growth, the institute conducts a weekly online practice session on Sundays. The practice session is conducted on a lichess platform. You can check the video and details on “How to participate in the practice session?” below.
Institute started conducting the practice session online from offline, immediately after the announcement of the lockdown in the 2020 pandemic. The online practice session is an effective way of practicing chess as you can connect with players around the world, which is not possible in an offline session.
The major benefit of online practice sessions is the games are stored on the players’ profiles which a coach can see at any time to track the improvement of the students and to know his exact area of improvement. One of the institute’s coaches monitors the practice session every Sunday and all the coaches in their free time analyze their students’ games and guide them to improve their mistakes in their respective classes.

• The practice session facility is available lifetime once you’re a student of Chess Excellence Institute.
• You get the full experience of how the tournaments are conducted. (Institute conducts tournaments in Swiss League format and you can see full ranking and all other details at the end of the tournament.)
• Institute conducts tournaments in different time zones to allow students to participate.
• Coach analyze students’ games in their respective classes. (The games from the tournament are stored on the players profile.)

After we approve your request to join the team, use the following procedure every time to join in the practice tournament:-
1) Log on to www.lichess.org
2) Take your cursor on the Community option and click on Teams (Hover on the Community option, DO NOT click on it.)
3) You will see the “My Teams” page. Click on team Chess Excellence Institute.
4) You’ll see the upcoming tournaments. Click on the respective tournament and click on join and your name will appear in the list.
5) Be ready on the tournament page at least a couple of minutes before the tournament start time, the chessboard will automatically appear in front of you.
6) After you complete your first game, for the next round again the chessboard will automatically appear in front of you as soon as all the players have completed their games.
Please Note:
• Tournament can be joined only through the lichess website, and not directly from the lichess app. After joining from the browser you can continue playing on the app.
• Lichess will allow you to join the tournament latest by 1st round. After the 1st round is over system won’t allow you to join the tournament and you can only participate in the next week’s practice session.
• The number of rounds and the total time of the practice session depends on the number of participants. The maximum time of the practice session is 2 hours.
